SiEPIC Scholars Application

Application Deadline: March 1, 2017. Note that we are in the final year of NSERC CREATE funding, hence the scholarship will be 1 year long (April 2017 - March 2018) and the internship component is thus a minimum of 5 weeks (20% of 50% of 1 year).

Scholar Stipent Eligiblity

 The NSERC CREATE Si-EPIC Program is open to both prospective and current Undergrad, Masters, PhD students or Post-Doctoral Fellows at one of the five participating universities: The University of British Columbia, McGill University, McMaster University, Université de Sherbrooke and University of Ottawa.

  • Si-EPIC Program is open to both Domestic and International Students
  • The student’s supervisor must be a faculty member in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering or in a related discipline at one of the participating Universities. 
  • Preference is given, but not restricted, to students whose supervisor is one of our Program Investigators listed at

Application Process

Please complete the attached application form and send the signed PDF copy at with a subject line of “SiEPIC Application-2017–<Student Name>”.  

Further details are included in the form.  Requirements include undergoing an internship, attending workshops, contributing to the SiEPIC Library, completing designs for fabrication, etc.

Stipend Information

Stipends are granted on a competitive basis.  They require matching funds from the supervisor.  CREATE stipend amounts are:   

  Degree Type





 one summer or     semester



  up to 2 years



  up to 4 years

  Post-doctoral fellow


  up to 2 years 

Scholarship holders (e.g., NSERC PGS/CGS, Vanier, OGF, FQNRT, University scholarship) are invited to participate in and benefit from the program. Half of the above stipend amount is granted to major scholarship holders.

The stipend award starts between April 1st, 2017 and September 1st, 2017.  The award is renewable based on the evaluation of the student's annual report.
