SiEPIC 3MT Competition 2014

CREATE SiEPIC Program's Three Minute Thesis competition - Deadline Mar 3, 2014

SiEPIC 3MT video competition is a web version of the globally acclaimed 3MT competition, which was introduced by The University of Queensland in 2008 and is now held annually in many universities around the world including UBC.

SiEPIC 3MT video competition and its purpose

NSERC CREATE SiEPIC program is organizing an online Three-Minute-Thesis (3MT) video competition open for all former and current SiEPIC workshop participants (both SiEPIC trainees and non-trainees). In the 3MT video competition, students are required to record their three-minute video to present and explain the breadth and significance of their research work in the field of Silicon Photonics, in a manner that can be easily understood by a non-specialist audience. Software like iMovie Windows Movie Maker etc. can be used to record the video.

  • Video length should be between 2:50 to 3 minutes. Presentations are considered to have started when the  presenter starts their presentation through movement or speech
  • No restriction on the number of slides used in the video (you can use a static single slide or multiple slides, animations, movement, etc.)
  • No requirement of presenter to be in the video or picture-in-picture
